Car boot sales

Car Boot Sales

Car Boot sales are great for selling items you no longer want. Spending a bit of time and effort preparing for a Car Boot Sale can really pay off and you could be many quids in!

Registering for Car Boot Sales

First of all you need to find when the car boot sales in your area are scheduled. Then if you want to set up a stall you can contact the organiser and purchase your stall for your chosen date. The organiser should also be able to advise you as to what you should bring along with you, what time you should set up and by what time you will need to have cleared away. Also, it may be a good idea to bring a helping hand along with you even if it only so that they can watch the stall if you need to nip to the loo.

Car boot sales are usually held on Sundays and bank holidays and less frequently on a Saturday or over the full weekend. Keep your eye open in shop windows and local papers for notices of up and coming dates.

Selling at a Car Boot

It can cost anything from £5 to £25 to buy your pitch for the day and prices do vary a little dependant on if you have a car or a van. So if you have plenty to sell you should easily get back the money you have paid.

Be realistic with the prices of your goods and try not to overprice as if you do they will not sell. Also expect people to haggle with you and know what prices you are willing to drop to. Early on the morning you can expect professional traders to come around your stall and they may really drive for a bargain so expect it. As the day progresses you would normally see everyday people out and about who are just looking for a bargain and a some time out of the house.

Be organised and price up all your items before you leave home. The reason for this is professional buyers can arrive before you have unloaded your car boot. It is better to be organised as then you will not feel quite as stressed when this does happen. It would also be a good idea to bring with you a fold out table to display your items on and underneath, as this makes viewing the items much easier for all your potential customers. This is much better than arranging them in the boot of your car.
