Find a new job

If you are on the look out for a new job, new employer or career change then you need to plan carefully your next move before you jump. If you are fed up with your current job, don't assume that your next job will be better. To find a better job there are a few things you need to think about first.

Should you change your job?

The most common reason why people change job are that they don't get on with someone in their current workplace, usually their boss. Other popular reasons to seek new employment include the need to earn more money, change work location, change career and improve career prospects.

If you are suffering from a relationship problem at work it may be that the problem could be resolved. The best way to deal with these issues is to have a one to one chat with the person concerned without involving other people who can often end up making the situation worse.

If you are not getting enough money, it may be that you need to ask for a pay rise. With some careful career planning and self development you may be able to earn more money where you are without changing job. Perhaps if you improve your negotiation skills it could help you ask for more money. It might be worth sitting down with your boss and explaining that you need more money or you will be forced to look elsewhere. If your boss values your commitment, hard work and flare, they will do all they can to keep you.

If you are looking for a promotion, you may be forced to look outside your current employment if no vacancies are likely to arise where you are for the foreseable future. Again it is good to talk to your boss about your aspirations and how they might be met in your current employment.

Writing a Good CV

Your CV has one purpose: to get you to interview stage. You won't get a second chance to submit a better CV if your application is unsuccessful so it is worth the extra effort to learn how to write a good CV first.
